The events in Mongolia show us what will happen if we do not take care of our environment and do something about the destruction of our planet. Unfortunately, sandstorms are a common phenomenon that regularly devastate the Mongolian plains, which are also suffering from its effects. The air in the region is extremely polluted and the extreme storms kill many animals, putting the livelihoods of the pastoralists in doubt.
One of the solutions to these serious problems has brought together a team of Hungarian and Finnish scientists in an international project. The experts are working to improve environmental engineering training in several Mongolian institutes so that skilled Mongolian professionals can find solutions as soon as possible.
They share their knowledge with local students on water and soil management, reducing air pollution and the importance of tree planting.
